Joshuah's House

On Jealousy In the Polygamous Family - More Explanations Part 1

If you have read anything on this site already, you are probably aware of the fact that my husband and I are looking for women to join us in a plural marriage family, and that we are not looking for middle-aged ladies, but rather young women who are willing and able to have children still so that we can raise a big family to God's glory.

If you read Being One of Many, you already know about the attitudes we find preferable in a potential wife, so I will not talk about all that again.

Instead, I would like to concentrate on this question:
Why in the world would a middle-aged woman like me be interested in finding younger wives for her husband ?

The first reason is that it is our call as human beings to be fruitful and to multiply, and to subdue the earth and have dominion over it, which is to say, to take good care of creation as God's stewards (Gen 1:28). We are called to build His Kingdom down here, we repeat this call every time we pray the Our Father (thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven, Mat 6:10; Luk 11:2), and my husband and I are taking God's word as it is brought to us in Scripture seriously and for what it is, all of Scripture, and only Scripture: Sola Scriptura, tota Scriptura. Consequently, we have to ask ourselves how we can best fulfill God's will in this regard, being fruitful and multiplying, having dominion over the earth, and building His Kingdom.

Besides, we understand from the times of Adam and Noah, the times of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that this call is a call to a man and his house, the multi-generational family, not to society as a whole or an organized church. So the bigger the family, the more wives to a husband and the more children among them all, the better.
