Lady Lesson #6: A Woman's Calling

Before we continue writing about things that further the development of lady-like attributes and attitudes, let us have a quick look at where all this is going to lead you, esteemed young lady in training. For all learning is easier and all teaching makes more sense when you know the goals, when you know which direction your education is headed, when you realize what "career" a lady strives for. After all, you are not educating yourself to be a lady for the sake of being a lady. If that was your goal, you would most certainly end up being an arrogant snob with nothing much to do in life but look down on other people who might not be as lady-like as you are. Being a lady is not, however, the ultimate goal.

Instead, being best equipped to fulfill your calling is what we are striving for, being best equipped to fill your God-given place in the family and in society. If you are trained to be a lady, you will have best chances of being successful in the field and place God has prepared for you down here.

What, then, is the calling of a woman ? What is she to do with her life ? What is it that God ordained for her ?

Well, the answer is simple:
Woman was made for man, she was created from him to be his help meet and to complete him in his mission to lead his house well for the glory of God and to build His kingdom.

"Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." " (Gen 2:23)

"For man was not made from woman, but woman from man." (1Co 11:8)

In other words, the calling of a woman is to be a faithful wife and devoted mother, to be the virtuous manager of her husband's house and the creative steward of his vision. What a woman should do with her life is devote it to the care of her family, to supporting her husband in all his endeavors with zeal and perseverance, to bringing up her children and educating them well under her husband's guidance and according to God's word. This is what God ordained for her, this is what a woman is hard wired for, what she is best at, what she can excel at, and most easily so if she has the right foundation, if she has been trained to be a virtuous woman from the beginning, if, in short, she is, both inwardly and outwardly, a God fearing, honorable lady.

So keep this in mind when you read through the lessons and educate yourself in being a lady - your goal is fixed, and it is the most noble goal a girl and young woman can press on towards on this earth.
